During these first 20 years of TNT-Audio I've written many in memoriam articles, to commemorate artists or men of the HiFi scene who contributed, in one way or another, to helping the culture for good sound grow. I couldn't imagine one day I would be in the position to write a similar article to commemorate my brother Giuseppe's passing away! At the end of September, while driving his beloved Vespa, he was involved in a terrible road crash. After a full month in the Intensive Care Unit of the Brotzu hospital here in Cagliari, and after five surgeries, he sadly passed away at 52. This is the reason why I couldn't work and update TNT-Audio for so long.
Giuseppe is/was solely responsible for my love for music and its good reproduction at home. Without him and his musical discoveries my musical culture would have been severely limited.
It is not easy to summarize who my brother was and what he did. He worked as an inspector and regulatory officer for the Minister of Labour, helping workers to deal with job regulations and troubles with Companies. He was also a freelance journalist, devoted to music and culture in general. He wrote articles for many newspapers (e.g. l'Unione Sarda) and magazines, reviewing music albums, concerts, books, interviewing artists and so on. He also had a personal, “political” column on tiscali.it Notizie
Being very fond of bikes and motorbikes, like yours truly, he started to write articles for moto.it and bikeitalia.it, two leading online magazines on everything related to motorbikes and bicycles. He also wrote music reviews for our sister magazine Music on TNT.
He was a real musical omnivore and he was always searching for something new and exciting. He was also an audiophile and I helped him building his own system, which included both digital and vinyl playback systems (on a Rega Planar 3), using a first series T-Amp as the heart of his system. He fell in love with the tiny marvel soon after I reviewed it on TNT-Audio and never wanted to update it with anything else, despite the number of (better sounding) Class D amplifier I proposed in more recent years.
He tragically passed way two weeks ago and I'm deeply saddened by this inconsolable loss. He was my only brother and my life will never be the same. I will miss his e-mails containing YouTube links for new artists and music or for his reviews and articles.
He will survive in the heart of those who loved him, who have been helped by him and who benefited from his blood donations. The morning of the accident he was going to donate blood, being a regular donor.
So baby dry your eyes, save all the tears you've cried. Oh, that's what dreams are made of, 'cause we belong in a world that must be strong. Oh, that's what dreams are made of. Yeah, we'll get higher and higher
World turns black and white Pictures in an empty room Your love starts fallin' down Better change your tune Yeah, you reach for the golden ring Reach for the sky Baby, just spread your wings We'll get higher and higher Straight up we'll climb We'll get higher and higher Leave it all behind Run, run, run away Like a train runnin' off the track Got the truth bein' left behind Falls between the cracks Standin' on broken dreams Never losin' sight, ah Well just spread your wings We'll get higher and higher Straight up we'll climb We'll get higher and higher Leave it all behind So baby dry your eyes Save all the tears you've cried Oh, that's what dreams are made of 'Cause we belong in a world that must be strong Oh, that's what dreams are made of Yeah, we'll get higher and higher Straight up we'll climb Higher and higher Leave it all behind Oh, we'll get higher and higher Who knows what we'll find? So baby dry your eyes Save all the tears you've cried Oh, that's what dreams are made of Oh baby, we belong in a world that must be strong Oh, that's what dreams are made of And in the end on dreams we will depend 'Cause that's what love is made of
