Our readers seem to love amplifiers!

With 2024 now just over, it's time to take stock and check out which are the most read reviews here on TNT-Audio. We had already done this analysis in December 2023 (here you will find the results) and even this year there was no shortage of surprises - as well as some important confirmations. Let's see our Top Ten!

At the top of the list, with 235,470 views, we find - somewhat surprisingly - the Class D power amplifier based on IcePower modules Amphion AMP700, probably due to the fact that it is a device that has generated quite a lot of discussions on fora and enthusiast groups. Being based on simple (and inexpensive) IcePower modules, this professional amp has been sold at a price a little too high, in my opinion. Without the consensus of the manufacturing company, which did not want us to reveal the contents of their device, we decided to carry out a detailed analysis, as you can see in the pic above.

Following, is an article on measurements and modifications to two Monacor tweeters, the DT99 and DT300. Bronze medal for the pair of monoblocks ZeroZone while, almost ex-aequo, in fourth and fifth place we find two amplifiers, the Fosi V3 (which ranked #1 last year) and the old Marantz 1060 (207,402 and 207,249 views respectively). The amplifiers, once again, reign supreme. This is also confirmed by another datum: the most visited section of our website is precisely the one that contains amplifier reviews. More comments on this will follow.

In sixth place we find the first speakers of the ranking, the small active monitors Lonpoo LP42X (with 204,899 views) followed very closely by another amplifier (!!!), the Aiyima T9 (204,021 views) which also attracted a lot of interest last year, ranking at #2. The first source component in the ranking is, surprisingly, an audiophile Ethernet switch, the Reiki Audio Superswitch. Actually, the article is not a real review, but rather an introduction to the discussed audibility of Ethernet switches with streaming music, a typical flame war topic on HiFi groups and fora. The second speakers in the ranking are the Tonian Labs Oriaco G6 while in tenth place is an accessory useful for carrying out diagnoses on the correct implementation of the electrical home system, the device Habotest HT107D (203,137 views), which checks for correct connections and voltage.

What conclusions can we draw from this ranking? Firstly, the great interest of audiophiles in amplifiers is confirmed, evidently these components are considered the real engines of every HiFi system. I find this quite bizarre, because most of the difference in a HiFi system is influenced by the choice of speakers. Secondly, vintage gear, with the good ranking of the Marantz 1060 review and more than 100,000 views for the Bose 901 series of articles, continues to arouse great curiosity, but it is comforting to see the good success of accessories and modifications/tweaks, a sign that our initial mission (DIY & Tweaking) still attracts a lot of readers' interest.

Finally, the great success of the small active Lonpoo LP42X loudspeaker has to be considered quite natural: they are of interest to both an audience of enthusiasts and more general consumers who want a compact speaker that sounds good, costs little and can easily be connected to any audio device. The excellent and numerous reviews on Amazon of Lonpoo speakers, then, increase curiosity. Indeed, even their small music center Lonpoo LP816 totals over 155,000 views, a clear proof that many potential enthusiasts are interested in simple, inexpensive and small-sized audio devices. Or, perhaps, it is the products with a good quality/price ratio that interest our readers most.
