Hello, Aldo, and thanks for writing. I'm looking into one possible answer
to your question: there used to be a dealer in Torino who listed a lot of
vocal (classical and operatic) 78s on eBay. It's been a long time since I
saw one of his listings, but I'm pretty sure a friend once bought some
records from him, and I've sent a message to my friend asking if he still
has contact information.
Otherwise, unless they are real rarities, you'll
probably find that postage to ship the records out of your area will
exceed their value, almost certainly for international shipping. A good
way to start, actually, would be to do some exploration on eBay in the
completed listings to see what records like yours have brought at auction
and who in Italy regularly sells such things.
Just remember, as with any
record, which pressing you have and condition play a big role in
determining what they are worth, and no dealer is going to give you as
much as you might get by selling the records yourself, perhaps by putting
up your own eBay listings. On the other hand, in my experience selling a
few individual records--again, assuming they are common issues--usually
ends up being a lot more trouble than the return would justify, and
selling to a dealer spares you the effort.
One other possibility: you might check around and see if there's a local collectors' club or group.
If so, one of the members might be interested or perhaps could guide you to someone who would be.
Of course, you could also keep the records and buy a modest 78 RPM-capable turntable to play them. I'm actually in the process of writing a series
of articles on that very subject for TNT; stay tuned!
I hope that helps a bit. Thanks again for writing, and I'll let you know if my friend can offer any leads to the dealer in Torino.
